I was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Any time I tell someone this, they say something like, “Wow, I’ve never known anyone from North Dakota!” or “People actually live there?”
My family consists of my parents, LeRoy and Mae, my three brothers, Michael, Randy and Loran, along with a large extended family. Although my parents never farmed, I grew up on my Dad’s farmstead. This setting provided all the opportunities to live a full life. If it’s done on a farm, I have probably done it. I will never forget the first time I witnessed the birth of a calf!
I started studying piano at age five and my grandmother had me at the organ console at age ten. We had a huge Wurlitzer organ that I would hide behind. Grandma and I played many piano and organ duets together over the years.
I moved to Florida in 1971 to attend college at the University of Florida where I studied Interior Design and Music. I always knew God was calling me into Music Ministry at some level. In the early 80’s, I moved to Boston and later worked in Bakersfield, California designing several high schools.
I returned to Celebration in 1996. As the first CommPres staff member, I feel so blessed to be a part of the most outstanding team I have ever worked with, not to mention this wonderful church family.
