I was born in Toledo, Ohio where I graduated from a Catholic high school in Toledo and received my Masters of Education from the University of Toledo. My teaching career was at Toledo Public Schools. Do you see the pattern here?
My wife, Becky, and I have been together since 1963. I like to tell people, “We were not born in Florida, but we got here as quickly as we could after we retired from our teaching careers.” Becky and I were part of big families so we missed them when we moved to Florida, but quickly found we now have our church family here at CommPres.
One of my favorite Bible passages is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” As I look back at the events in my life, I realize they were just part of God’s plan to prepare me for where I am now. My teaching career not only made it possible for me to provide the church support with computer application needs but also gave me skills necessary to become a Stephen Minister.
Becky and I also accepted God’s plan when we lost our adult son to a fast acting cancer. From this experience, we are now able to help others use a Christian approach to process and accept losses in our “Getting Through Life’s Losses” support group.
