Our Mission

We are a family of believers committed to experiencing and sharing Jesus Christ.

Our Community

Community … It’s in our very name. Community Presbyterian Church reaches out to a post-modern culture, teaching God’s Word to both “seasoned saints” and “new seekers.” CommPres is a non-threatening community of imperfect people, blessed by the grace of God. This is a place to grow in faith, learn about Jesus Christ, and discern God’s calling in your life.

Our approximately 800-member church reflects the people of South Orlando. Members represent all ages and cultural backgrounds, coming from a variety of Christian traditions and denominations.

Everyone feels at home at CommPres. Come be a part of our growing faith family; join us on the journey to experience and share Jesus Christ.

Our Church

CommPres holds the belief that God’s voice is best heard through a prayerful community of Christ-followers. Our leadership is composed of:

  • a Session, or Board, of Elders, both women and men, elected by our congregation
  • our ordained pastors called by God to serve
  • a talented staff of non-ordained professionals

Together, this group prayerfully seeks to discern God’s will for our community and to shape ministry in accordance with it.

CommPres is a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is actively involved in the Central Florida Presbytery.

God’s Top 10 List

 1. God loves you.

This means He cares about you. He’s like a parent who worries and provides for their child. God made you and likes you.

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16

 2. God is always with you.

This means you can always call upon the Lord for help, or take comfort in His presence, or draw upon His assistance regardless of what your situation might be.

“Where can I go from your presence?”Psalm 139:7

 3. God has the power to change your life.

This means our lives that are broken with dysfunctional quirks, damaged relationships and self defeating thinking, bad attitudes and habits can be lifted from our psyche and a new person – not dominated by sin – can emerge. This happens because Jesus’ Spirit takes up residence within our hearts.

“If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old things have passed away, behold new things have come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

 4. He wants to bless you.

This means we do not have to live in fear of God striking us down whenever we fail. The Lord is for us and wants to provide us with abundant life.

“He longs to bless you.”Isaiah 30:18

 5. God has a plan for your life.

This means we are not aimlessly trying to figure out our purpose here on earth. Instead of the insatiable search for pleasure and success that leaves people broken and unsatisfied, the Lord gives us a life with deeper meaning.

“For I know the plans I have for you – plans for welfare and not calamity – to give you a future and a hope. “Jeremiah 29:11

 6. God guides you through life.

This means we are not alone in trying to understand and figure out this world with its twists and turns. God’s word is a map and His Spirit is within us to lead and direct us daily.

“You ears will hear a word behind you, ‘this is the way, walk in it,’ whether you turn to the right or to the left.”Isaiah 30:21

 7. You can’t be too sinful to have a relationship with God.

This means you don’t have to be afraid of God because He knows that we are under a sin nature; therefore, He sent his son Jesus to remove the penalty of sin. What Jesus did for us – dying on the cross – brings us the forgiveness we need to be reconnected with the Lord.

“Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.”Romans 5:20

 8. You don’t have to earn God’s love.

This means His love is a gift freely given to you. Because of our sin nature, we are not able to meet God’s requirements of perfection, so Jesus transferred His perfection to us and took all our sins on the cross. What saves us is God’s move, not ours. Our good deeds are merely grateful responses to His love for us.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, not of yourself, it is a gift from God.”Ephesians 2:8-9

 9. God can always fix a hurt.

This means when life tumbles in on us – whether it be the result of our own mistakes or someone else’s bad behavior thrust upon us – the Lord will not only turn the situation around for our spiritual growth and deepen our souls through the calamity, He will positively redirect our daily lives. The Lord specializes in turning bad into good.

“All things work together for good who love the Lord.”Romans 8:28

 10. God wants you to live with Him forever.

This means the Lord, who originally created us to be in a relationship with Him, has restored that reality. When we accept His love in Christ, life with God starts anew and lasts forever.

“I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”Psalm 23:6
