We have become a society consumed by being “P.C.”. Spending precious time concerned with what so-and-so said, or how such-and-such looks. What if we spent more time focused on “J.C.” the One who was, and is, and always will be, correct, in all things! We live in a culture today that tells us too much J.C. is just not P.C. Perhaps that’s because we, as Christians, have represented Him in some wrong ways. Jesus Christ came as the example to the world in how to live a life filled with love and released from strife.
When Jesus came, He was met with a culture of rules that no one seemed to do right. Truth be told, He came because humanity couldn’t seem to get livin’ life right! Jesus wasn’t caught up with the religious formalities of the times. He came to set the prisoners free from the bondage of sin and separation from God. As far as the politically correct atmosphere of those times, I’m pretty sure Jesus went against the status quo. He knew that The Truth, His Truth, would be the way to get humanity back into believing who they were and who we are, so all could respond to belonging to a Father who loves them, despite themselves…. and ourselves. See it’s the same yesterday as it is today. We were lost, in need of a Savior. And like those in the days of Jesus, the influence of the world around us is sometimes a bigger presence than the Son of God, Jesus.
What if instead of checking our Facebook feed to see the tone of the day, we opened the Word and allowed Jesus to speak into our day. There is so much that Jesus said that we can set our life to… Mark 10:44-45 “And whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” It’s not about us, it’s about us making a difference in the world, leaving a legacy. Not putting what we want fist but seeing the want around us and doing something about it! Matthew 6: 25-26” Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” We don’t need to worry about our lives. Fretting about what to wear and what we’ll eat. How much time do we spend trying to keep up with the latest trends and end up feeling isolated because we just don’t measure up. Our Father in heaven wants us to know He has provided our needs. He sees us and has made provisions for us. We might not be dressed for “red carpet” ready, but God clothes us in His righteousness, and prepares us for the main event, eternity! John 4:13-14 “Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Trying to keep up with what the world says is the-way-to-go can leave you empty. We drink in the right things to say and the styles of the day. In the end, we’re filled for a moment, then left feeling dried up. Jesus has a well of everlasting love, and goodness, that will spring up inside us, when we trend with Him. He will never lead us astray, Jesus is the same yesterday, today. And tomorrow.
So, let’s spend more time with J.C. than worrying about being P.C. Jesus is the answer to get the world on track, He’s the way the truth and the life. One day it will all be the J.C. life!
