“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

God is always with us. What do we have to fear? We can put all of our weight on the promises of God. He will hold us up. God’s Word is truth; He can’t lie. It has never come back as anything accept what it is, actual and factual!

I read this statement in a book I’m reading called Always True (God’s 5 Promises when Life is Hard) by James MacDonald: “Before we can truly embrace the delight of God’s promises, we must suffer the desperateness of our need.” No truer statement has been written. If we haven’t experienced our own desperation and had need in our lives that we cannot fill, then we can’t possibly know how to fully embrace God’s promise of never leaving us! To put it plainer, desperation is the end of the rope we come to when we’re ready to let go and cling to God and His promises for our lives. Nothing else has worked; we are desperate. Desperate lives have a way of realigning us back into the Father’s arms.

We have to be careful though, because out of desperation comes fear. Fear is what sucks the faith right out of our sails! The Bible has a lot to say about fear…in fact, it tells us to “fear not” over and over again. Fear is the killer of faith. We can’t say we believe and that God is with us, then freak out that we are alone and not going to make it. God has given us a spirit of love and power through His Holy Spirit! We cannot go anywhere that He is not with us also! As a believer, we have received Jesus into our lives, down into the marrow of who we are. We can’t detach from Him; no matter the circumstances, He is with us!

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

Does it get any better than this!? There is no question God is for us! “If” here is not a question, but a definite. Clearly, Paul is saying there is nothing to fear, that the God of the universe is for you, so nothing at all can come against you! Evil will never have victory over you because the battle has been won by Jesus the Son.

What battles are you now facing? Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Just on the outside of our last tear of desperation, is the beginning of our new life in Christ. We cannot fear that He isn’t exactly where He says He is within us! Our soul’s longevity is at stake. Fear drives out faith! God has never gone back on His word, not even once. He says He is with us, and that He will never leave us. So if it is God that is for us, there is nothing except God Himself that could come against us.

It’s time for us to step into God’s promises and live a life that demonstrates the Father’s heart. For He is good and only good, and is exactly all that His Word says He will be. Pursue a relationship where we believe everything He says about you and about me.

Enjoy this week. God is with us, and He is for us. Nothing can come against or stand between us except us.
