Reading the Bible is our lifeline as believers! It holds everything we need to live a life filled with supernatural power and unbelievable love! The Word will literally change your life! Reading the Bible should be as much a part of our daily routine as brushing our teeth, but sadly, it’s not. For too many it’s a scary story filled with an angry God Who is looking for any reason to strike us down. We base this on our own perspective, and it is so far from the truth. We can’t read God’s Word through our own understanding. As people of faith, we have to ask the Holy Spirit to make the Bible alive for us.

When we read a book, we gather information and then, through our interpretation, we can discuss what we think the book is about. Facts are facts, right? Well, I guess if we are basing our knowledge of facts on the author of the book’s writing, we are saying we believe that what is written is true. And from that, we form our own thoughts and opinions on those very same facts. Two people can read the exact same book and come away with two very different opinions on what the “facts” of the book mean. This is why we have to make sure the Bible reads to us through the Holy Spirit. If not, we leave ourselves open to misinterpretation and then misrepresent the Word. The Word was in the beginning with God and was God. Everything that was created was through the Word speaking it into existence! We read about this in John chapter one verse one through five. Then a little further down in verse fourteen we read that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. It’s the Holy Spirit within us that tells us that the Word is Jesus!

The Bible is not up for self-interpretation, yet so many people with good intentions have tried to present Jesus based on their own knowledge of what the Word says. We can’t trust what we know unless it’s been revealed through the Holy Spirit. There is a tangible love available for ALL of us. The Bible is a love story, the greatest one ever told! About a God and Creator that loved His creation so much He allowed His Son to step down off the throne to atone for all the sins of mankind. When we read the Word of God, with the prompting of the Holy Spirit, it’s new every time! He will speak right off the pages and into our hearts if we let go of what we think we know and allow Him to grow us into who He has called us to be.
