Do you believe in God? You do, well me too. Do you know that He’s got a job for me and you? To Worship Him! It’s simple, and pretty straight forward, yet time after time we wrestle with questions like, “What am I supposed to do with my life?” or, “What does God want from me?” These questions stir up confusion about who we are in the Father. When in all reality God’s plan was made simple. Creator and creation together in a perfect union. When sin stepped in, it clouded our ability to feel connected with Him. The rift was set in motion, and we lost our sense of purpose in worshipping God. He became distant, rules and law began to take the place of an intimate relationship with Him. God already had the plan in mind to bring us back… and His name is Jesus!

Jesus in us not only identifies us back to God, but He also repurposes us back into that relationship with the Father. We were created to worship God. Jesus, when He laid down His life, on our behalf, became the way back into our full potential in our relationship with God. We know, that the way to the Father is through Jesus. With our eyes upon the Holy One, praise is ever on our lips.

Hebrews 13:15

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.”

It’s because of all that He has done for us we find that song within our hearts to cry out in worship to God. Our worship through Jesus to the One who created us is the way we start walking in our purpose.

There is so much of this world, we allow into our lives, that pull our focus off of the rightful heir of our affections. We were created to worship, and when the wrong things are let into our hearts and minds, we give our worship away to idols. It’s subtle at first. Jesus shows us how narrow the way is when it comes to worship and the Father. The truth is narrow. It is or it isn’t when it comes to truth. Jesus Christ is the truth, the way, and the light. He is our new identity in God our Father. It’s the Jesus in you and in me that we put on display when we worship God.

As worshippers we need Jesus to reconnect us, and engage our souls spiritually. It’s an internal disposition of the heart, not just physically where we are. It’s about a location of the heart to God’s original purpose for us. In Genesis when God asked Adam and Eve where they were after they had eaten the forbidden fruit, He hadn’t lost them, God wanted to know where they were with Him in their hearts. Our reunion with our Creator through Jesus, brings us back into our purpose, to worship God!

Remember when I first wrote that God has a job for you and me? We are His worship representatives. With our identity in Christ, our worship flows naturally. With our focus on bringing God glory through His Son, the world around us takes notice. It’s what we are all created to do.

Have a great week.
