“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2: 9-10).

Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is among us and within us.” The physical world as we experience it, is bound by the laws of physics. When something happens that defies these laws, we call it miraculous or of the Spirit. Our challenge is we know about the spiritual realm and understand Jesus has made it available to be our new reality, yet we remain primarily physical beings that have an occasional spiritual experience. It is because of God’s interruption into our world through Jesus, we are now spiritual beings, and to miss that is to limit our lives to the physical that decays.

Even healing is only a temporary postponement of the natural death that awaits the body in this life. Can you imagine our fatal diagnosis from God’s perspective? He must think, “You’re crying out to stay in a sinful world, instead of wanting to come be with Me and all the goodness I have awaiting you—forever!”

The Apostle Paul told us our natural bodies will one day be transformed into another kind of bodily expression: the spiritual body which is imperishable. So in the meantime, as our souls get renewed daily by the presence of God, our focus should shift off of this world. Then, we no longer feel compelled to worship ourselves as the number one priority, nor live for what the world offers. We identify ourselves with eternal life.
