I am originally from upstate New York and grew up in a small Congregational church. Since joining CommPres in 1998, I have served in several capacities, including Women’s Ministries Team Convener, Women’s Bible Study Facilitator and Retreat Leader. I was our first Elder for Adult Nurture and helped build our Small Group Ministry. I joined the CommPres staff in January 2012 to create and develop Soul Care Ministries, a major element under our Care Ministries umbrella that focuses on the inner spiritual health and healing of members of both our church family and surrounding community. I am a certified Spiritual Director and am currently studying for an M.A. in Pastoral Care from Fordham University.
I like to think of Soul Care Ministries as our church’s “spiritual safe house,” where women and men can come and explore their faith-life stories within safe environments, in order to heal from life’s difficulties, nurture their spiritual health, and deepen their personal relationship with Christ. When we companion each other on the Christian journey – whether in one-to-one Spiritual Companionship or Stephen Ministry care-giving sessions, or in classes and support groups where we gather to both share and listen to each other’s life experiences – God comes alongside in powerful ways. It is a privilege to participate in a ministry designed to tend this holy relationship.
